Cardinal Newman's Mission Statement for the ARTS
Cardinal Newman High School's Art Program is committed to providing students with an encouraging environment where they are given the opportunity to grow and excel as artists. We strive to deliver the highest quality of music, fine art, and dance training, while nurturing each student’s unique gift of talent and creativity. We wish to encourage our students to achieve their fullest potential – to support them as they grow artistically and academically, and develop into well-rounded individuals – nourished in body, mind and spirit.
Message from the ARTS
There is overwhelming research that a strong education in the arts makes for a more well-rounded student while in school and in adult life. The College Board, Profile of College-Bound Seniors National Report for 2001, 2002, and 2004, states that “Students who have had arts education have higher SAT scores than other students”. Cardinal Newman High School recognizes this and has made a strong commitment to arts education. That has lead to the expansion of a variety of arts classes offered at the school, as well as the expansion of the arts faculty at the school. Cardinal Newman is a place where students with artistic interest in the fine arts, music, drama or dance, have a place to grow and be challenged.
