Other Information
Ian Parelius grew up in Petaluma, CA and graduated from St. Vincent de Paul High School in 2009. He studied philosophy and graduated from the Integral Program at Saint Mary's College of California in 2013. The same year, he was received into the Roman Catholic Church. Afterward, he spent two years studying theology at Boston College's graduate school for theology and ministry. Having received a Masters degree in theology, he spent a year in Birmingham, Alabama with FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students). As a FOCUS missionary, he led Bible studies, mission trips, retreats, and taught college students how to effectively and lovingly bring the truth, beauty, and goodness of the Catholic faith to their peers. Finding one's Vocation is critical to each person's growth in holiness. Ian discerned that God might be calling him to the priesthood and religious life, so he spent eight months with the Dominicans of the Western Province in San Francisco. Finally, after months of fruitful prayer and discernment, he left the Dominicans and began teaching Theology at Cardinal Newman High School.
