The forecast is optimistic for the probability of the first "normal" school year since the pandemic, so we are excited to welcome students to the 2022-23 school year! August 12: Orientation & Photos; August 16: First Day of School
As summer comes to an end, we are excited to welcome students back to campus! All students will be on campus on Friday, August 12 for basic orientation and student photos. Incoming freshmen will also be on campus Monday, August 15 to continue orientation with their LINK Families. The first day of instruction is on Tuesday, August 16.

Pictures will be taken by Bella Photography and Design and will serve as your yearbook and student id pictures. Please see attached flyer for details.

Your Parent Dashboard is on Blackbaud
The biggest back-to-school news for parents this year is our transition to the Blackbaud Education Management system. Log into your Blackbaud dashboard and you'll have all sorts of school information in a single place. Here's how you login:

- Your username is the email you used to sign-up back in March
If you forgot your Login information or password, follow the prompts to recover them. Watch this short video for a quick reminder.
A Paperless Process
All of the traditional information that requires updating and signing at the start of a school year will be in your Blackbaud account requiring only an electronic signature. This includes:
- Parent/Student Handbook
- Emergency Contact Forms
- Epicurean Lunch Accounts
- Teacher Communications
- Standard School Communications
Each time a faculty or staff member adds information to your Blackbaud account requiring your attention, a pop-up notice appears on your dashboard. In addition to the typical collection of forms and information, your Blackbaud account will also be the academic and financial interface.

Don't Forget About Lunch!
Cardinal Newman is proud to partner with Epicurean Group for our food services needs. Just as last year, parents add funds to their student's MySchoolBucks account, and these funds are drawn down when students purchase meals or snacks. Beginning August 12 – please login to your account and add funds before the start of the school year. Here are instructions.
Daily Dress Code
Here's a brief recap of our Dress Code, contained in it's entirety in the Parent/Student Handbook.
- Students must wear well-fitted, solid-colored, non-ripped pants and a Cardinal Newman High School polo shirt at all times.
- Sweatshirts worn by students, hooded or otherwise, must be Cardinal Newman High School logo wear. This includes all items sold by the Bird Cage.
- Jackets and Sweater can be worn over a Cardinal Newman High School polo. A CN polo must be worn underneath outerwear.
- Exceptions: Beginning in the 4th quarter, Senior students have the privilege of wearing any college sweatshirt. Certain "theme" days for School Spirit will have dress code implicaitons.
Liturgy Dress Code:
- Well-fitted, non-ripped khaki pants.
- White blouse or white polo.
- Dress shoes.

All athletic forms and requirements are handled through sportsnethost.com/cnhs. Physicals and Concussion screenings are required. Please check with coaches to ensure your teen has meet all requirements.
Order Textbooks Today
To identify and purchase the textbooks your student needs, first review their schedule in Blackbaud to get their course list. Then, locate the related textbooks on this list. Use the ISBN for online shopping to purchase the texts. Anticipate shipping and supply chain issues and order as soon as possible.
For 2022-23, we've approved an A, B, C, D, E bell schedule. Daily schedules will be in Blackbaud dashboards for easy reference. Here are three key benefits:
- With the addition of A-Days (period 1-7), the number of student-teacher interactions will increase from 88 to 99.
- Reduces the number of minimum days and schedules weekly faculty/ staff meetings on C-Days.
- Flipped D-Day and E-Day blocks better distributes the impact of early dismissals for co- or extracurricular activities.

Parking Permits Now Available Online
Use this link to purchase a parking permit. As mentioned in the online form, take a copy of your receipt to Mr. John Gilson in the Administration building on August 12 to complete the process. Cardinal Newman requires all students to maintain a polite tone, civil language, and careful operation of vehicles on campus. Loud pipes, engine revving, loud music, and reckless driving are not permitted on campus.
