MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL REYNOLDS Happy Friday, Cardinal Newman High School! Today, CNHS celebrated the groundbreaking of our chapel on the Feast Day of Saint Angela Merici, foundress of the Ursuline Order. This student-led celebration focused on the words of Meghan Snyder, Kate Wheadon, and Emily Wood while recognizing Theo Ranney's summer internship with GMH Builders. This was a wonderful way to end our week, and I would like to thank Kathleen Aymar, Principal of St. Rose, for joining us at the groundbreaking. As Cardinal Newman High School continues to focus on campus safety, we began our fencing project on Thursday, the 26th, and this project is expected to be completed in the next couple of weeks. Securing our campus with fencing will add a layer of security that does not currently exist. The installation of fencing, along with regular safety drills, will continue to provide our campus a greater peace of mind. Our schedule for next week is A-Day, B-Day, C-Day, D-Day, and E-Day. Please make a note of the following events: - On Thursday, the 2nd of February - Senior Dora Avanzi Mesquita coordinates a blood drive for the Cardinal Newman High School community. This project is in alignment with her CBSL project.
- On Saturday, the 4th of February - the Sophomore Class Council led by Ms. Patterson and Mr. Clark organized Winter Formal Dance. This dance begins at 7 pm and ends at 10 pm.
Have a great weekend. With rain set to return next weekend, please enjoy the beautiful fall weather we are experiencing. Roll Niners! With blessings, Nicholas Reynolds |

Chapel Groundbreaking Ceremony |
This morning's chapel groundbreaking ceremony was led by students who set a tone of gratitude and renewal, thanking all those who made this moment possible and reflecting on the opportunity to rebuild all that was lost. Our students see the new chapel as a symbol of the unification of school life and faith. Junior Meghan Snyder said it best in her dedication speech: "I'm so grateful to be able to stand before you all and see the start of a new chapter for this school. The building of this chapel is something so special and significant not just for our school, but for our Newman community. This chapel is a representation of the unification of our school life and faith. It rests as a symbol of resilience after the fires and a sacred place of worship. It lies in the center of our campus lifting our hearts and spirits up to God. What makes this chapel in particular so remarkable is that it's our school's first student chapel! It will act as an outlet to revive our faith and restore hope to our spiritual life. The gift of this chapel is truly a blessing and we're so fortunate to be able to have it here!" |

| This Week's Social Media Highlight |
|
|
| Last Friday, 22 CNHS sophomore and junior students served as small-group leaders and speakers at the Santa Rosa Diocesan 8th-grade retreat held at St. Eugene Cathedral. Over 200 8th graders from Sonoma, Mendocino, and Napa attended this special day of fellowship and encouragement. Our students did a great job ministering to the younger students and leading by example! |
| The message from the Bishop inspired students to reach for greatness and to lean into their faith as they get ready to enter high school, and students Kai Slater and Megan Snyder shared wisdom from their own personal journeys. This retreat was a partnership between the Diocese of Santa Rosa Department of Catholic Schools, Department of Youth Ministry, Office of Faith Formation for Catholic Schools, Cardinal Newman, and participating grade schools. |
