MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL REYNOLDS |
Happy Friday, Cardinal Newman High School Families!
With the end of Catholic School Week upon us, I want to share with you some thoughts from our teachers: "Being a musician is not easy. It's a difficult physical skill and a difficult mental skill. Putting the two together takes years of dedication and practice. I appreciate all the students that have a creative spirit and make time for music, the classes, the bands, and for themselves."
"I appreciate that our students take pride in being a member of CN and that our parent partners express gratitude and appreciation to the faculty and staff in many ways."
"I am so grateful to all of you for entrusting us with your children's education and spiritual formation. Often in my ministry, I cross paths with adults of all ages who have been blessed with a Catholic education and who now express their gratitude for that experience. They often mention the sense of morals, discipline, and faith that they received from their Catholic schools; it is my hope and prayer that we can continue this legacy with your children, fulfilling Cardinal Newman's beautiful description of us all as links in a chain and bonds of connection between persons. May Jesus continue to bless your families and lead us to heaven with his kindly light."
"I love that Cardinal Newman is truly a community and that parents, students, and staff are invested in the lives of our students."
"I am proud of how my dance students support one another while learning in class and performing. They encourage one another to give their best each day and to keep a positive outlook toward learning, facing challenges, sharing ideas, and being creative thinkers and movers. I also appreciate the time and energy of the parent volunteers who help out at the shows each semester."
"I am very grateful to the students for their honesty, dedication, and desire to learn and to the parents for their positive feedback and communication. It is a pleasure working with all of you!" "Cardinal Newman High School loves your students and appreciates our partnership. Know that we are dedicated to continuous improvement, the safety of your student, and the formation of faith."
Our schedule for next week is A-Day, B-Day, C-Day, D-Day, and E-Day.
Please make a note of the following events: - Tuesday, the 7th of February - Freshmen Retreat - Freshmen Retreat will be led by Freshmen
Theology teachers at the Matre Dei Convent of the Marian Sisters and CNHS's campus. The theme, "Encounter," aims to help our students understand that life, and high school, is a pilgrimage, a journey in which they Encounter the presence of God and the support of family and friends. - Friday, the 10th of February - Pre-ACT Testing for all Sophomores from 8:30 am to noon in
CNHS's Gym.
Have a wonderful weekend. Sadly, it looks like six more weeks of winter as Mr. Groundhog saw his shadow. Hopefully, this extended winter will bring much-needed rain to the parched lands of California. With blessings,
Nicholas Reynolds |

Jeff Badger '09, Casey Miller '09, Tyler Laron '10 and Chris Steele '13 | | This morning, Cardinal Newman was happy to share our field and weight room with the Santa Rosa Police Department's Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) as they prepared for their physical endurance test. Some of their preparation includes running with weights and gas masks, timed burpees, and pull-ups. Fun fact, there are FOUR Newman alums on the SWAT team: Jeff Badger '09, Casey Miller '09, Tyler Laron '10, and Chris Steele '13. We are proud of all the men and women that put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe, and happy to do what we can to help! |

SENIOR SERVICE: ON-CAMPUS BLOOD DRIVE ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 2 |
|
| | On Thursday, in partnership with @Vitalant, senior Dora Mesquita coordinated an on-campus blood drive. Thank you, Dora, and all those who gave today for providing this literally vital service to those in serious medical need. Did you know, just one donation, can save up to three patients lives? Cardinal Newman, with your support, we collected 14 whole blood and 1 red blood cell donations, so 16 lifesaving units were collected! This means we collected 48 lifesaving units for the hospitals. Thank you again for making it happen, these units really helped during this critical time. At Cardinal Newman, acts of service are an integral part of our daily life. You might say...it's in our blood.
