Student Leadership Opportunities

Students nominated for the Press Democrat's annual Youth Service Awards.

Becoming Leaders
Developing the leadership skills of Cardinal Newman students is one of our primary goals and at the heart of our mission. We build and model leadership in our classrooms, clubs, and through Christian Service. Cardinal Newman requires 25 hours of Christian Service each year from all students, with a larger capstone experience for Seniors. Service-oriented leadership is a primary tenet of our Catholic identity and provides a leadership opportunity while also being a hands-on, minds-on experience with the virtues of faith, charity, kindness, patience, humility, and diligence. By serving the less fortunate, our students develop compassion, empathy, and understanding for others. They embrace differences in both cultures and circumstances.  Such service also fosters gratitude for their own blessings. As service-oriented leaders, our students are academically and socially prepared for success in a complex, pluralistic world. They're not just ready, they're Cardinal Newman Ready.
