Athletic Fees & Forms

Welcome to THE 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR!

While the COVID-19 Pandemic has changed the landscape of Athletics, Cardinal Newman High School is committed to providing the safest and most well rounded athletic experience for our students. The Athletic Department, in conjunction with our coaching staff, have created health and safety protocols and that make use of NFHS, State, and Local guidelines to allow our student athletes to train in preparation for their individual seasons.  The new CIF and NCS calendar begins in December with traditional Fall sports and in February/March 2021 for the typical Winter and Spring sport offerings. We are looking forward to seeing our Cardinal Sports Teams back on the field, on the court, out on the course, and in the pool!

Cardinal Newman utilizes an online platform for all of the sports clearance paperwork called SportsNet. This system allows completion of all eligibility paperwork via electronic signature. Sports Physical information can be uploaded into the system and can be easily updated with each new school year.  Emergency contact information and health history questions will be filled out upon registration and stay with  the student throughout their time at Cardinal Newman.  Sportsnet allows for the athletic department to create digital emergency travel cards for each sports team/ coach. Please click HERE for an instructional letter that will walk you through how to create your account. If you have any questions regarding the new SportsNet system please contact the Athletic Department at 707-546-6470.

To ensure the safety of our student-athletes who participate in an interscholastic sport that may put them at a greater risk of sustaining a concussion, Cardinal Newman requires mandatory ImPACT (Immediate Pre/Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing) testing of CN athletes participating in the following sports: football, soccer, water polo, volleyball, cheer, wrestling, basketball, baseball, lacrosse, softball, and track & field (long jumpers, pole vaulters, and hurdlers only).

As stated in the introductory paragraph of the attached informational flier, ImPACT was "developed by clinical experts who pioneered the field" and "is the most widely used and scientifically- validated computerized, concussion evaluation system. It provides trained clinicians with neurocognitive assessment tools and services that have been medically accepted as state-of-the-art best practices---as part of determining safe return-to-play decisions."ImPACT testing at Cardinal Newman will be conducted by a certified athletic trainer. There is no charge to CN families for this service.

Fall sports athletes playing a winter or spring sport do not have to be re-tested if they already completed a baseline test in June, July, or August. Designated athletes must return the attached Consent & Release Form with the appropriate signatures on the day of testing. Please note that athletes on teams designated for ImPACT testing will not be allowed to practice or compete until ImPACT testing has been completed.

In addition, PLEASE READ the following attached documentsCIF Concussion Info Sheet on recognizing signs and symptoms of concussion; CIF Concussion Return to Play (RTP) Protocol, which explains the specific procedures for RTP if your son/daughter experiences concussion-like symptoms from participating in an interscholastic sport.
