Summer Academic Programs

The Newman Experience doesn’t stop in the summer! We are very excited to share our 2024 Summer Program with you. True to our mission, we view the summer as an additional opportunity to continue the education of our students in the wholeness of Body, Mind, and Soul.

Enrichment Courses

Geometry (Full Year Intensive Course)

►  Grades: Rising 9th-12th
►  Dates: Thursday, June 6th to Wednesday, July 3rd
►  Time:  8:30 am - 1:30 pm
►  Credits: 10
►  Prerequisites: None

Overview: This intensive summer course allows students to complete a full year (10 credits) of Geometry. This course meets the UC/CSU Mathematics (c) course requirement. The Geometry textbook is provided for this course.

SUMMER FRESHMAN ACADEMY

Summer Academic boot camp focusing on writing, reading, and math skills

►  Grade(s): Rising 9th graders
►  Dates: June 10th -June 21st (Monday-Friday)
► Times: 9:00 am -12:00 pm

Overview:  The Summer Freshman Academy is a two-week seminar providing strategies for academic success and in preparing students with foundational Math and English skills. English content will be focused on the 9th-grade summer reading assignments, The Great Divorce, by C. S. Lewis, and The Wanderings of Odysseus, by Rosemary Sutcliff, and will incorporate both writing and comprehension skills. Math instruction will focus on Algebra 1 skills.

Morning Sessions:

English Remediation

►  Grades: Rising 10th, 11th & 12th Graders
►  Dates: Monday, June 10th-Friday, June 28th (Monday-Friday)
►  Times: 8:30 am-11:00 am 

Overview: Credit recovery for students who received a “D” or “F” in any of their English Courses. Students should work with their counselor to sign up for the specific semester they are looking to remediate. 

►  Location: Room 226       ►  Cost: $450


Algebra 1 Remediation

►  Grades: Rising 10th, 11th & 12th Graders
►  Dates: Monday, June 10th-Friday, June 28th (Monday-Friday)
►  Times: 8:30 am - 11:00 am 

Overview: Credit recovery for students who received a “D” or “F” in Algebra 1. Students should work with their counselor to sign up for the specific semester they are looking to remediate. 

►  Location: Room 225       ►  Cost: $450


Geometry Remediation

►  Grades: Rising 10th, 11th & 12th Graders
►  Dates: Monday, June 10th -Friday, June 28th (Monday-Friday)
►  Times: 8:30 am - 11:00 am 

Overview: Credit recovery for students who received a “D” or “F” in Geometry. Students should work with their counselor to sign up for the specific semester they are looking to remediate. 

►  Location: Room 13     ►  Cost: $450

Afternoon Sessions:

Algebra 2 Remediation

►  Grades: Rising 10th, 11th & 12th Graders
►  Dates: Monday, June 10th-Friday, June 28th (Monday-Friday)
►  Times: 11:30 am - 2:00 pm 

Overview: Credit recovery for students who received a “D” or “F” in Algebra 2. Students should work with their counselor to sign up for the specific semester they are looking to remediate. 

►  Location: Room 225       ►  Cost: $450


Spanish Remediation

►  Grades: Rising 10th, 11th & 12th Graders
►  Dates: Monday, June 10th-Friday, June 28th (Monday-Friday)
►  Times: 11:30 am - 2:00 pm

Overview: Credit recovery for students who received a “D” or “F” in Spanish 1 or Spanish 2. Students should work with their counselor to sign up for the specific semester they are looking to remediate.
