Cardinal Newman offers a Catholic faith-based college preparatory curriculum with the purpose of educating students to become people of values as well as scholars. Our focus on outstanding achievement ensures that our students become knowledgeable and skillful in areas of moral and ethical decision-making, critical thinking, accountability, technology and adaptability. Our co-curricular programs enhance the academic and spiritual dimensions of our school by providing influential activities that foster community, leadership, creativity and sportsmanship.

Cardinal Newman is located in heart of Sonoma County. Santa Rosa is 50 miles north of San Francisco and has a population of approximately 175,000. Our close-knit community draws from public, private, and Catholic schools throughout the North Bay and encompasses students of all faiths. Need-based tuition assistance is available. Senior Christian Service Project
The aim of Christian Service is to help the students grow in the love of God and neighbor through concrete acts of service done for the love of God. In this spirit, each student will spend a minimum of 25 hours per year serving others in the greater community.
Christian Service formation
culminates in a Senior Christian Service Project conceived and implemented by the individual student in which the student responds to a specific community need in a spirit of Christian service.

Athletics at Cardinal Newman
With 26 sports teams, Cardinal Newman scholar athletes consistently and successfully compete at a high level. In 2015 and 2017 Cardinal Newman was honored to receive the Elmer Brown Award from the North Coast Section CIF, an award for ranking first among 170 Northern California schools whose students have excelled both on the field and in the classroom.
Approximately 80% of Cardinal Newman students participate in athletics.
Approximately 50% of Faculty/Staff also serve as a coach in our Athletics Department.
