The Interview Process
Admissions interviews continue on a rolling basis during each school year. However, most interviews for prospective 8th graders are conducted at the end of January each year, once the placement exam scores and application materials have been received. Admissions interviews for the 2010-11 school year will take place on two separate Saturdays: January 22nd and February 5th, 2011.
The interview process is designed so that questions on both sides can be answered. We consider this a family meeting, your family meeting ours. Part of the interview is going over the student’s past academic records, placement exam scores and creating a tentative freshman schedule of classes. This is a time where any questions or concerns that parent(s) or the student have about Cardinal Newman can be answered. The interview is meant to be a relaxed experience, where there is an exchange of information and vague areas can be clarified and we can get to know the prospective student and their family.
In addition, we use this meeting to find out what goals and aspirations the student has for himself. We want to make sure we can do everything possible to help the student be successful in meeting their goals. Part of this interview process is to make sure the parent(s), student, and school are moving in the right direction for the future of the student.
